What happens when a buttoned-up restaurant hostess, an Ivy League–bound dishwasher, a wildly hotheaded cook in recovery and his angry longtime girlfriend, the ghost of a wealthy Manhattanite, and a Subaru salesperson find themselves in various states of unrequited love—together in a broken-down apartment on one transformative night?
A romantic comedy about the seductive pull of the past and the soaring possibilities that open up when we are brave enough to let go, You Are Mine is an original musical by Philadelphia native, Temple University and Bryn Mawr College graduate, playwright and television writer Susan Cinoman, featuring the gorgeous, soulful, rock-infused music of acclaimed singer-songwriter Maia Sharp.

She’s back at Venice Island!
Lucy Criscuolo returns to the New Musical Series - this time as Heidi in You Are Mine.
Lucy’s no stranger to new musicals: her second New Musical Series performance was Cindy in The Lost Tango.
We're thrilled to have her back for the next chapter!
Her favorite roles include Cindy in The Lost Tango, Sandy in “Grease”, and Margot in “Bright Star”. She’s currently performing in Michael Roche’s “Cause It’s My Birthday B*tch” at Facetime Theater.
We’re pretty sure Lucy already knows her way around Venice Island.
Jameson May
(Vogel)
He’s back! And apparently, we didn’t scare him away the first time.
Jameson May returns to Venice Island, after appearing as Charlie in last year's The Lost Tango, for his second New Musical Series production, this time as Vogel in You Are Mine.
This time he’s playing a sensitive, romantic poet who writes songs about yearning, is great with a guitar… and apparently terrible with tools.
Sounds familiar, like life imitating art?
Jameson is an actor, singer/songwriter, musician and music teacher in the PA/DE area. And yes, he has a really good Robot dance move hiding up his sleeve.

Dena Daniel

Talk about coming full circle!
Dena joins You are Mine as Sue—but Venice Island isn’t exactly new territory for her.
Dena’s first Philadelphia theatre experience was right
here at Venice Island, where she directed two of our children’s theater productions.
Now she’s back on our stage as an actor in a brand-new musical!

Eddie Varley

Pee-Wee Herman impersonator. Broadway performer. Philadelphia native. Grumpy?
Yep. That’s our Jerry.
Eddie is a Philadelphia-born performer who spent 27 years in New York before returning
to his hometown—and he has the résumé to prove he’s been entertaining audiences for a while.
And how did Eddie end up in You Are Mine?
“Susan put out the Bat Signal.”
Of course she did.

Adamaris Lopez
(Dani)
If there’s an accordion in the room, Adamaris is going to know and cheer about it. Good thing we have one in the show!
Adamaris was actually part of the very first reading of You Are Mine, so they’ve been with this musical from
the beginning.
When they’re not performing, Adamaris loves styling, upcycling, making jewelry—and apparently adding circus, puppetry, clowning, stilting, accordion and helping the rest of us practice our Spanish!
And their favorite thing about Dani?
She fearlessly shows up as herself.
We love that.

Peyton Divirgilio

Peyton makes their Philadelphia theatrical debut as Tracy!
First Philly show. First show after graduating. First original musical.
Peyton is collecting quite a few firsts with You Are Mine!
Since moving to West Philadelphia in May, Peyton says they’ve already found a wonderful sense of community—and they’ve found even more of it here at Venice Island while developing You Are Mine.
We’re so happy You Are Mine gets to be part of Peyton’s Philadelphia story.

Nora Fox
(Maryanne)
Musician. Composer. Actor. Writer. Multi-instrumentalist. Dancer.
And possibly… underwater opera singer?
Nora first connected with You Are Mine during a summer
workshop and fell in love with the story and music. We’re thrilled she’s here to help bring Maryanne to life.
Nora has performed everywhere from Broadway and Carnegie Hall to Radio City Music Hall—and now she’s making her Venice Island debut.
She has performed internationally and writes and releases original music alongside her work as an actor and visual artist. Her new single, Murder Ballad, is coming out this winter.
Her dream alternate life?
“A ballet dancer. Or an underwater opera singer.”
Honestly, we’re not ruling either one out!

Susan Cinoman is a Philadelphia native and Temple University and Bryn Mawr College graduate, playwright and television writer, whose work is published and produced internationally. Her work has been seen at Capital Repetory, Troy Foundry Theatre, Naked Angels, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Tristan Bates Theatre, Paradise Factory Theatre and others. Cinoman’s prose is published by Harvardwood Publishing. Awards include Maxwell Anderson Playwright’s Prize, Best Connecticut Filmmaker 2008, Best Narrative Screenplay, New England Film and Video Festival, Selection Berkshire International Film Festival, Best Play- Maine New Play Competition and Top Ten Unproduced Pilots of 2024. Susan is a proud member of the WGA.

Maia Sharp is an acclaimed singer-songwriter whose songs have been recorded by artists including Bonnie Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, Cher, The Chicks, Carole King, Taj Mahal, and Lisa Loeb. A gifted multi-instrumentalist and recording artist in her own right, Sharp has released numerous critically praised albums and toured extensively, including performances with Bonnie Raitt. Known for her emotionally incisive lyrics and sophisticated pop craftsmanship, she has built a devoted international following.

The New Musical Series was created to provide production space and support for composers and lyricists for composers and lyricists, with ties to Philadelphia.
At its core, the Series is about giving artists the opportunity to dream boldly, refine their work and present new musicals in a professional theatrical environment and to connect with the audience.
Submissions are accepted and reviewed annually.

Venice Island Performing Arts Center
In 2025, Venice Island Performing Arts Center launched the inaugural New Musical Series with the world premiere presentation of The Lost Tango—and it was a tremendous success. Written by Howard Burke (Composer/Lyricist) and Robert Calandra (Librettist/Lyricist), The Lost Tango was directed by Beth Criscuolo with musical direction by Jim Wade and choreographed by Maria Jackson. The Lost Tango played to a packed house in our 250-seat theatre.
