Venice Island Performing Arts Center hosts dance, theater, concerts and special events while also producing our own original productions. With the support of our nonprofit, these programs highlight talented artists, inspire young audiences and help strengthen the community.
Now in it's fifth year, our Children's Theatre Series continues to grow and provide a Theatrical experience for the young and young at heart.

Each Actor will receive a $1,200 stipend on a W2.
Character Breakdown:
ARTIE - lovable, gay, a man with style, wanting to finally tell his friends the truth about his recent stay in Seattle with his male lover, in his 30s
CARLA - the new owner and bartender of Dan’s Lost Tango, a single mother of a 5-year-old daughter, in her mid-30s
CHARLIE - a hockey player, a sweetheart of a guy, dating Mary but nervous about taking the plunge into marriage, in his 30s
MARY - dating Charlie, wants to get married, a loyal friend, in her 30s
JAMES - dating Jessie, a struggling artist, in his 30s
JESSIE - in a relationship with James, Cindy’s younger sister, ambitious, in her 30s
CINDY - Jessie’s older sister, newly & happily engaged to Ben,
what-you-see-is-what-you-get, in her 30s
Show Synopsis:
The evening begins with six friends gathered at a local bar to celebrate an engagement. Before the night is over, each will learn more about each other’s dreams, challenges, secrets, and the depth and strength of their friendships. For some, the night is full of promise, including the new, young, female bartender/owner. For others, the night is the end of a chapter.
The Lost Tango is an original musical that takes the audience on a journey through those relationships. Warm, sometimes probing conversations, funny banter, and soaring songs are woven together to form the tapestry of their lives. Their intertwined relationships shed light on the complexities of love, personal growth, friendship, and intimacy. They remind us that events and actions considered shocking by some, prove mundane to others, and that in our darkest moments, it is our friends who help us through.
With its compelling characters, thought-provoking themes and infectious music, The Lost Tango is a musical that will touch the heart and soul and remind us about what truly matters in life.
